Idea 1
My first idea is genre-based and will focus on jazz in north London.

The first idea I have is to create a Jazz based magazine. This will be aimed primarily at an audience of 16-20 year olds (male & female). The magazine will include article about venues/clubs and artists in the present and past. It will also have an interactive area where readers can interact using social media and discussions will be printed in the magazine. The price of this magazine will be £4 and it will provide readers with an all rounded knowledge of Jazz within North London.

Strengths
Weaknesses
A jazz magazine appeals to a very niche audience therefore won’t have a lot of competition.
A jazz magazine wouldn’t appeal to the mass market. Less people would be interested.
The jazz scene in north London has a core following who would be invested enough in the genre to subscribe to a magazine.
Jazz music is decreasing in popularity, therefore it wouldn’t be easy to reach a new audience.
The jazz scene in north London has a unique sense of community. The magazine would be a talking point for jazz fans.
Some people believe that jazz has passed its prime and have lost interest in the genre therefore wouldn't buy the magazine.
The jazz scene is outside the mainstream in north London, therefore it’s harder for jazz fans to stay updated. The magazine would promote events, venues and upcoming or under-appreciated artists that fans may not be aware of.
It may not appeal to young audience due to its generational appeal.

Idea 2
My second idea is a magazine based on a rapper in North London.

This magazine is targeting a primary audience of 14-18 year olds (white, males) and a secondary audience of 19-25 (all ethnicities and genders).
The magazine content will focus on rising stars in North London and there will be opportunities for readers to write some lyrics with Rappers. Additionally, the magazine will have reviews and preview concerts for people to read about. There will be interviews with managers, producers and other artists to give readers an insight into the world of Rap. The cost of this magazine will be £3.50 monthly and there is a huge amount of content available to include.

Idea 3
My third idea is venue-based and will focus on rock venues in north London.

The magazine will focus on venues and concerts within the Rock genres (such as KOKO's in Camden). The content will include reviews on the best venues to give readers the opportunity to decide where to go. The target audience for this magazine will be 24-30 year olds as many venues limit the age entry. Additionally, this genre targets the older age bracket.

In conclusion, I will be using idea 1, because there is more of a need for the magazine as there aren't any popular jazz magazines based in north London. Moreover, the magazine will have a lot of space to be creative as there are a lot of jazz clubs and artists in north London as well as a popular annual festival (the EFG London jazz festival) that is unique to the area.
